purplekitteYes, the version in which he does not appear. Though I was horribly tempted to work Fiore into it all somewhere. Probably all a product of the amount of research I've been doing about gender roles and family life in post-war Japan for school.

Tsukino Kenji took a tearful farewell from his blushing bride to trek the hour commute to his entry level job. She presented him a carefully made lunch with carrot flowers and colorful sprinkles on the rice like she would make for a small child.
He managed to get a week off when Usagi was born. Ikuko waved him goodbye, but then the baby started crying again and she darted off.
He got a few days off when Shingo was born, but Ikuko was so busy running around between a baby and a toddler he hardly saw her.
When he got home long after dark he found his dinner in the refrigerator with heating directions and Usagi’s horrid report cards on the table. He kept meaning to scold her about those, but she was always sleeping late past when he had to catch his train.
He got a very unadorned sticky note telling him to not plan another business trip, a reasonable worry even though he was only back hours. His daughter was marrying a man he had never met.
