Imported from lj, so I suggest using the tags to get to the dreamwidth versions of the fandom-specific link pages, since I can't be bothered to redo all the links.

If anything I've warmed to the pairing over the years, but after doing a month's awards banners where almost every story was Minako/Kunzite, I had a strong need for 'things not working out' fic.

Writing this in an actual airport with my computer off, I found myself in that twitchy position of suddenly feeling the immense need to google something of no importance whatsoever and lacking internet. Later I would discover there is, in fact, such a thing as a direct flight between Narita and Heathrow (edit: according to one frame in episode 26, Mamoru's ticket is of the direct; no one cares), and while it is theoretically possible to go between the two by way of New Delhi, this is not the normal stopover recommended by the internet airline companies, which is Singapore, Hong Kong, or somewhere in Eastern Europe. So this drabble must be set in Copenhagen or Munich or something, not that it matters or in is any way specific, let alone accurately so.

I'd sort of noticed people weren't writing for this (last) month's theme on [livejournal.com profile] sm_monthly because there were mod posts and polls on the subject, but I had hardly looked at the extent of it. Ohhh. Now that I've added three stories that puts the total up to five. For the whole month.

May wasn't great but was orders of magnitude better than July, but at least checking May and the activity on the mod posts makes me less worried the comm's just died and is about to be shut down. Hey, maybe there'll even be people only getting around to the theme at the last moment like me, though I doubt it. September then.

So I was rereading Silmarillion when the new theme was announced. This was going to be "inspired by" rather than "crossover," but then, after writing an abridged version of one of the boringer chapters ("Of Beleriand and Its Realms"), I found myself too lazy to derive some new place names from Elvish roots, so I just used the map on page 139 and bull-shitted all my geographic inaccuracies. Yeah.

Meanwhile, one of the things I like about Tolkien's epic, old-times style of prose which I try and fail to imitate is the ability of use the word "love" whenever and between whoever you want and not worry about OMG slashy implications. (Though if they start going on for long enough about how their love for each other is greater than any love of women, eventually it hits the point where "homosocial bond" is just something my Texan English teacher made up, Gilgamesh.)

My Kunzite/Pluto thing strikes again. I do kind of think they'd be awesome in a never-met-in-canon sort of way. Also, yay for bad Japanese puns.

I don't care how OOC it is, I like writing Three Pillars because I like writing undiplomatic hormonal Endymion instead of the one-sided Beryl/Endymion that more properly fits the show or Dark Prince Endymion mind-control pr0n or something.
