Imported from lj, so I suggest using the tags to get to the dreamwidth versions of the fandom-specific link pages, since I can't be bothered to redo all the links.

I don't think I got more than a sentence into the prompt quote before my mind started supplying "In Life's life, for Life's sake..."

Title: Book of Night with Moon
Author: purplekitten
Medium: Fanfic
Theme: OTP--"For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning. Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun, so shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth... All these things shall love do unto you that you may know the secrets of your heart, and in that knowledge become a fragment of Life's heart."--Kahlil Gibran
Genre: General
Version: Anime, crossover with Young Wizards
Rating: PG

This ended up being heavily based on and drawn from a speech by a different Makoto in a different person's fanfic. I'm trying to learn to imitate the style of that, though I fear I will never have the skill at word choice to be epic, if adapted for various Sailor Moon canon and head-canon in between the 40k turns of phrase. I'm also, elsewhere, attempting to learn to write the proper tone for Lovecraftian horror, which thus far involves inserting "hideously gibbous" into the prose a lot.

Note: the star gods as mentioned here have nothing whatsoever to do with the star gods of WH40k.

Apologies for any Hindi fail. I keep feeling like I've got some gender-conjugation wrong, not that I speak a word of the language, even ignoring the bits when I'm shifting genders on purpose.

For a slash fic prompt, I keep wanting to put a warning on this of: contains copious amounts of het.

Inspired by, well, the title, but man is it obvious that I was scribbling this during an environmental lecture about 'radiation and you.'

I have an odd idea this came of rereading some Fate of the Jedi and Age of Discovery too close together.

This really doesn't make much sense without a passing familiarity of K-drama cliches and the Korean Wave in Japan. Fortunately, you can see a summary of every K-drama ever by watching this clip.

My classmates in East Asian pop culture used to make fun of me for taking huge amounts of notes on everything the teacher said (actually half of it was fic in the margins, but what do they know and they were singing a different tune when we got grades back), particularly taking notes of our teacher's ten minute long digressions into the specific plot details of particular TV drama plots. It wasn't difficult note taking. I simply had a short-hand symbol for every major plot event that I used from show to show in whichever order, attached to a set of initials for which of the four major characters it was (ex. amnesia, being hit by a car--with a particular one for "amnesia because of being hit by a car", suicide attempt, etc.). Could get a whole show in two lines without writing small.

Rewatching PGSM this month, I'm really tempted to write academic-esque meta comparing and contrasting it with other K- and J-TV dramas and "trendy dramas" and such and male-oriented live action shows.

Writing this in an actual airport with my computer off, I found myself in that twitchy position of suddenly feeling the immense need to google something of no importance whatsoever and lacking internet. Later I would discover there is, in fact, such a thing as a direct flight between Narita and Heathrow (edit: according to one frame in episode 26, Mamoru's ticket is of the direct; no one cares), and while it is theoretically possible to go between the two by way of New Delhi, this is not the normal stopover recommended by the internet airline companies, which is Singapore, Hong Kong, or somewhere in Eastern Europe. So this drabble must be set in Copenhagen or Munich or something, not that it matters or in is any way specific, let alone accurately so.

So I was rereading Silmarillion when the new theme was announced. This was going to be "inspired by" rather than "crossover," but then, after writing an abridged version of one of the boringer chapters ("Of Beleriand and Its Realms"), I found myself too lazy to derive some new place names from Elvish roots, so I just used the map on page 139 and bull-shitted all my geographic inaccuracies. Yeah.

Meanwhile, one of the things I like about Tolkien's epic, old-times style of prose which I try and fail to imitate is the ability of use the word "love" whenever and between whoever you want and not worry about OMG slashy implications. (Though if they start going on for long enough about how their love for each other is greater than any love of women, eventually it hits the point where "homosocial bond" is just something my Texan English teacher made up, Gilgamesh.)

I have been wanting to write this crossover for so many kinds of forever. I often feel like I should be writing more "death" aspect Sailor Pluto's associations as well as "time" stuff. Plus it's Garth Nix, and he's always made of awesome.
