“Well, yes. You say the two of you worked so well together, but now his organization’s going to be here and I’m back and our people are around.”
“Not as well as you and I work together,” Michiru assured her.
“But you don’t want to marry me.” Haruka laughed at the very suggestion.
“Hey, we’re heterosexual life partners. It’s just I’m marrying Alucard and you’re dating Motoki.”
“Where is your beau, by the way?”
“He’s still with Setsuna and the new mayor, making sure every scrap of that demon tree is gone and the old shafts have been collapsed completely and everything else around.”
“It was nice working with her again, though I hate having to keep things from her and I always hate prophecies that go: ‘I saw the future. There isn’t one.’”
“Still, we didn’t even have to call in Usagi. I only worry about getting engaged so fast. It was a spur of the moment thing.”
“But you love him.”
“I think I do,” Michiru said tentatively. “Not just we worked well together and I didn’t want him to leave and to never see him again. I don’t know how much he loves me beyond tolerating me better than everyone except Setsuna, even than my new lady-knight-in-law. I realized I was jealous even if there was nothing romantic between the two of them and then I figured out what I wanted when I almost lost all my hopes and dreams.”
“Then you’ll be fine,” Haruka assured her. “You’ll deal with Hellsing and the rest of us Sailor Senshi are behind you.”
“Thanks. It’s just weird filling out a military requisition form for wedding cake.”
