“Damn it!” Endymion didn’t just punch the wall: he put his hand through it.
“Sir, either get yourself together or find someone else capable of leading troops against the Dark Moon. You’ve made mistakes. We all have. You’re taking responsibility. Now learn from it and get over blaming yourself.”
“No one should have to suffer from me not saving them.”
“You can’t save everyone. You can’t take all the blame. Other people are responsible for themselves too and you can’t be selfish to inflate your own importance enough to take that away.”
The king brooded in an almost visible dark cloud. Setsuna felt her temper rise. ‘Alas poor Yorick, I knew him.’ But that wasn’t the way if Rei slapping him hadn’t gotten through before she’d frozen herself.
Ignoring protocol, she followed her heart and embraced her king. They’d been through enough together that she could do that. “I trust you. I believe in you. I believe in you as a king and a good man.” She kissed him, only on the cheek but all the same.
“Thank you. You always give such good advice, Setsuna. Serenity would want me to guide the ones who can end this with as little death as possible.”
“Yes,” she agreed despite his misunderstanding of what was in her heart. “She would.”
