False Gods was definitely weaker than Horus Rising. It was always possible to see his flaws, but all of a sudden Horus is moody and withdrawn and only listens to obvious supervillains? Uh, okay...?
I think there's a rant later in this about how everyone in the past is basically a teenager. They're barely two hundred at the eldest, which in modern times is half of what you'd expect in a Chapter Master, and totally lacking in the perspective and experience to understand that their momentary personal problems are neither unique nor the end of the world. And then Dot is appalled by the idea that she is an adult.
Just to put into perspective how wildly AU this gets fast: the first thing she does when she decides to make her move is shoot Erebus. The more I read of fanon, the more amused I get as he's attributed to being the mastermind behind more and more. He doesn't actually die, but the ball starts rolling.
