The phone rang again as soon as it touched the hook.
“This is Aino… No comment… No comment… I will not change my decision… You’re welcome.”
Ring. Ring. Minako sighed. “Hello… This is she speaking… They may choose to take it as a betrayal, but I am not able to continue in the music industry at this time… Thank you.”
Ring. “Yes, it is related to my collapse… No comment.”
“Why don’t you leave the phone off the hook?” Artemis suggested to his exhausted, harried partner.
“No that’s not my boyfriend… No I’m not pregnant!”
“Sorry,” Artemis said, his voice muffled by being buried in the covers.
“Please keep such speculation from your respectful publication… No, thank you.”
Minako tapped the phone hook with her finger quickly and sighed in relief at the glorious dial tone in her ear. “Maybe that’s a good idea.” She dropped the phone, which hung laxly by the cord above the floor.
“I could have yelled ‘Minako, come back to bed!’”
“That only is appropriate when there’re at least five people in the room and the person on the phone’s parents are on the other line.”
“Are you coming back to bed?”
“As though I wouldn’t take advantage of the peace and quiet.”
