Ami could never have imagined being anything but thrilled at school starting again, until she began to notice an absence in her day. Rei. No Rei. No Minako either, but that didn’t leave such a big gap in her existence as she stumbled blindly around Juuban Junior High.
She had gotten used to the fiery girl’s presence, her loud voice, and her scathing comments. Life without Rei seemed cold and empty.
The bell had hardly run when Ami was already across town, climbing the hundreds of stairs to the shrine that she had walked very day of vacation.
Rei was already back, in her priestess clothes, sweeping the courtyard. Ami looked up at her through blue lashes. “I’m home.”
