“No. Why?” Ami answered instantly but confusedly.
“I wasn’t expecting you to, but if you did I thought you’d have a very good reason that would be interesting to hear.”
“Loosing faith in humanity?”
“In religion and its glorification of and righteousness in hatred and torture and war while angels sing.”
“Did you ever believe in God?”
“No, so I guess I shouldn’t sound bitter about it.”
Mamoru put down the Bible in a corner stack where he couldn’t see it. “The opium of the masses.”
“That really wasn’t the point he was making, in context.”
“Hm.”
Mamoru and Ami sat back down with their respective books.
