“That’s the point of birthdays!” Usagi cried, scandalized.
Rei snorted. “I can understand not wanting to be fussed over, in general, but you don’t get it enough. You’re too quiet.”
Ami did not whisper “I am not quiet” because, really, this was about her dignity.
“Well, we know now. Let’s have a late birthday party!”
“You just want a chocolate parfait, fat Usagi.”
“I am not fat! And this is for Ami’s birthday. Come on Rei-chan. Hey, come on Ami-chan.”
Spoilers on Mai-HiME: So I'm on ep 19, though I know mostly about the ending. WTF. The first two thirds of the series: het. All het pairings (the one that looked like shonen-ai for half a second if I hadn't known better's het too). The first two kisses, both het (one involving a nun, the other incest [though I gather they're not really related?]). Sure, I could femmslash it if I tried, but I could slash any show. But evidentially by the end of the series it will be hard-core cannon shoujo-ai almost all around. I've been looking for the subtext and I still don't see it (a little in the last two or so, finally, but I've really been looking).
