“It’s wonderful; really, you’ve outdone yourself. This is the best chicken I’ve ever--”
“Chicken?” They both held perfectly still at her tone. “Motoki, it’s fish…”
“Well, you know what they say about everything: Tastes like chicken. And it’s very good chicken, really… This isn’t helping any, is it?”
“What will I do? This is a disaster.”
“Could you say you meant it to be chicken?”
“It’s for a seafood cook-off.”
Motoki thought fast. “Chicken, the tuna of the sea. Or was it the other way around?”
With a laugh, Makoto kissed her husband on the forehead. “Thank you dear, but no, you’re not helping.”
