“Sailor Venus…” Sailor Mars, this girl Rei, was always yelling at her, demanding things. This time though her question was quiet, confused and curious but not angry.

“Why did you send Sailor Moon and Endymion off together? It almost looks like you’re setting them up. ‘Cause you’d better not be playing with Usagi’s heart over her crush,” Rei threatened.

“I am setting them up together,” Minako admitted.

Rei blinked. “But, Princess, I thought you two were destined true loves and all that.”

“You’re the one always telling me to value our current lives and not be so caught up in our past lives. Princess Serenity… I, in my last life, was a childish and spoiled brat who destroyed the world. In this life Chiba Mamoru and Tsukino Usagi are in love and I don’t want to invoke our past selves as Serenity and Endymion to steal him away.”

Minako stepped closer to her, the fashionable idol looking nothing like the gowned Princess whose form she had seen, and took her hand. “As Aino Minako Mamoru is not the one I’m in love with.”

I love it! You know, I was never a huge fan of the "miracle romance" thing (they were past lovers, blah, blah), even though I love Usagi & Mamoru together. Something like this scenario would make it so much better, more conflict, tension, etc... ya know? :P

Yeah, I've lately been finding myself answering all the scenes I see of destiny and soul mates and love across time and space and reincarnation with scenes of characters who don't have any of that but have really good relationships and lives right here and now all the same.
