“Isn’t it fun? We never go skiing.”
“Focus,” Ami reminded her. “We’re here to watch Naru and keep her away from Nephrite.”
“How can we keep up with them when we can’t ski without falling over and they’re going off together down the mountain?”
“I’m working on it.” She pursed her lips and ignored Usagi. “If the slopes had a couple of feet of ice on top of them no one could ski and we would all have to go back to the lodge and they wouldn’t be able to get out of our sight.”
“Then we’ll be stuck in with him all weekend.”
“Better all of us than Naru.”
“Yeah. She doesn’t know the truth about that guy.”
A red-haired girl glided past. “Are you guys coming?”
“It looks a little icy out there.”
“Naru,” Sanjouin Masato called. “Come on!”
“Wait,” said Usagi quickly.
“No, go on to the lift. We’ll catch up.”
Ami pulled Usagi away behind some trees. Out of sight she transformed into her senshi form. “Mercury Ice Castle!”
The fields of crystal snow turned to sinister sharp images reflecting long planes of uninterrupted light.
“That’s it?”
“That’s it. We’ll be stuck inside with the enemy who doesn’t know who we are and a girl who doesn’t know anything.”
“There’ll be hot chocolate, right?”
