I was thinking of her a bit more like Kitsu Chiri than she really is while writing this.

Every day Hino Rei parts her hair perfectly down the center. It is her ritual, her way of insisting on perfection from herself, her way of being crisp, mature, professional.

No ribbons or bows for her. Maybe if she had a mother to braid such things into her hair. For her it is straight, sleek, uncomplicated.

Wash with soap and cold water, brush her hair till it shines, go to school, sweep the temple. This is Rei’s routine.

It is Ami, who forgets to brush her hair as often as not who throws this off. Usagi with her odd hairstyle. Makoto with her messy ponytail. Minako with her colorful hair ties.

Rei doesn’t look perfect anymore. The line of her scalp isn’t quite ruler straight. Her bangs are wild. But now she’s a lot more the person she always pretended to be.

I like how you took the image as an expression of an ideal and then applied it to Rei's apperarance and take on things. Very original!
