I like to think this still counts, for all that Minako doesn't have a speaking part. In a fic with no dialogue, but in particular.

The funeral of Aino Minako was a small and private affair.

It shouldn’t have been a surprise exactly. Her illness had been affecting her performance for months now. The surgery had never had a high chance of success. But she was such a young girl. No one ever expects a young girl to die.

Announcements hadn’t been made to the public yet. Too sudden when even her illness had been kept a closely guarded secret. Her fans would be in mourning all across Japan when they heard.

Her parents were there, as marginal and insubstantial as they had been in her life. Her manager was bawling into a handkerchief, more her father than anyone else had been. The girl her manager recognized as Mars Reiko was there, dry eyed. There was also a white cat which refused to be chased away.

And so the earthly remains of Aino Minako were consigned to the fire.

I agree. Minako is definitely the focus of this story and it's interesting to see how all the people in her life react to her death and mourn in their different ways.
