purplekitteI just really wanted to use "psychopomp" in a sentence. I know what it means, but it just comes up so rarely I don't get nearly enough opportunities.

Mamoru had always been able to see ghosts. The boy who wasn’t a Sailor Senshi but still fought on their level needed some powers after all. He’d always had it, so he wasn’t too concerned about seeing things no one else could.

“Yeah, that underground pipe just exploded. We need to get away from here; it’s dangerous and stuff’s still blowing up. I bet they were transporting a bunch of stuff that’s flammable and poisonous--”
“And combustible, yes. Let’s go. Things seem to be handled here.”
“Huh?”
“The police are here. Come on,” he lied. There was no point mentioning the truth. Not even Motoki would ever believe him about the black-kimonoed sword-wielding psychopomps jumping around the intersection.
