Tomoe tried to stand on the bench below it to get it off, but found it was meters too short. How had Keiko gotten it up there?
He had to troop back to his lab and lug a heavy ladder back with him, amidst the jeers and catcalls of passing undergrads.
There was a fair amount of jealousy involved. Who was he, a big-glassesed nerd, to go out with Keiko, the bright star of the department?
By the time he was up the ladder, Tomoe was feeling pretty lucky himself. He left tacked in place of the banner a single sheet of printer paper, with one word written on it in teeny tiny font.
