“That’s for me to know.” Kyoko was so lost in lying that she didn’t even both to notice that what she had said was technically true. “You’re not bulletproof.”
Kunzite turned away from her, his white hair a bright patch against the starless sky. “The moon is beautiful tonight.”
She glanced at its flickering reflection on the sea. “I’m beautiful too. Beautiful like blood running in rivers at your feet and fine burning and the melody of ivory and ebony keys. That’s why I don’t think you’ll kill me,” she said audaciously.
“Maybe you’re right.” He didn’t smile, but his lips twitched just slightly.
