Summary: Tyki twists with Krory's memories of Eliade on the train.
“Ever been married?” the card player with the thick glasses asked the newly-minted Exorcist while his friends went to get more to drink.
Krory shivered uncomfortably in the chill air of the train car. “Why?”
“You look like a man who’s fallen on hard times and experience tells me to expect a woman.”
“My wife… died recently.” He sank into the dark, cold pit of despair, unable to dredge up a spark of anger at her.
“Died or was killed?” The glasses glinted.
“Why do you ask that?”
“A man like you doesn’t leave home to get away from memories, but to get revenge.”
“Revenge…”
“You were happy together?”
“Yes, very.”
The scruffy man had gotten very close to him at some point he had missed. “You loved her?”
“Yes.”
The breath on his lips was almost warm enough to be a kiss. “She loved you?”
“I don’t know. Yes. Yes, I want to believe she did.”
“Until…”
“Until?”
“Until what?”
“They came.”
“And now you want revenge.” The words caressed his lips.
Krory sputtered at the misinterpretation. “No, not against…”
“The ones who came and took your wife away. You want revenge against them, right?”
“They turned Eliade against me… They took Eliade away…”
“You’ll get your revenge, right?”
“Revenge…”
The door in front of Krory opened and the card player’s friends returned.
“Enough depressing talk,” he said, suddenly sitting a ways away from the vampire. “Let’s play another hand.”
